This is absolutely ridiculous to me. Like seriously this boy has been a boy scout since he was 6 years old and just because of his sexual orientation he's being denied an award he deserves and would have gotten if he fit societies stupid standards and was straight. This is a sensitive topic for me because some of my best friends are homosexual and people's bigotry and closed-mindedness on the subject really pisses me off. Looking at some of the comments on the article and making me mad because seriously what will it take to get people to realize that someones sexual orientation doesn't matter, at all. I got so upset while reading the comments i couldn't help but make one of my own
"All of you disgust me. What will it take for you people to realize that there are more important things to a person than their sexual orientation, like being a good person and having respect for others which clearly you all know nothing about. People like you all are the reason why i have lost all hope for humanity."
Ryan Andersen plans on going on Ellen's show and I wish him the best of luck because if anyone will support him and get supporters for him it will be Ellen.
Jenna, I can sense your passion and dislike of all of those people who are against homosexuality, and think it's immoral. I agree with you. It is ridiculous for the boy scouts directors, or whatever, to deny the kid an award just because he's different, but of course, since they are the higher up, and since because most people are ignorant on other's feelings, they won't change their minds... Yesterday I read a comment from a YouTube video, and I just couldn't stay in my sit. I walked away from the computer, wishing to speak to whomever had written that comment, and cut off their balls. I can feel your irritation, I've been there too, many times, but we have to not stop believing (Like the song! :D )! Slowly, people are becoming more open to new ideas, or beliefs, or orientations on whatever it may be :) Let's be positive, I know it sounds cheesy, but we have to maintain our high spirits and hope that we will inspire others to be acceptive like us :)
ReplyDeleteGo Jenna! I'm glad you commented back! Good for you chica! Those people needed to hear how stupid they sound. It was not too long ago that the skin color was the main issue that caused people to get bullied or left out. Although there is still an undertone of that, it has lessened over the years. But how long is it going to take for people to realize that eventually the same thing will happen with homosexuals. If everyone would just accept that one day gays and lesbians will be looked at the same way as straight people than that day can come sooner rather than later!
ReplyDeleteThis is ridiculous... The boy is six years old!!! It's sad to think how cruel some people are that they would basically humiliate this child to that point. Isn't boy scouts about showing what good leadership skills you have? If you are really a goos leader I don't think you would do this to a child... Just because he is gay does not make him any less of a person. I thought organizations like this were about bringing people together despite their differences... I guess i was wrong.
